Training to Tell the SCC to Say No to HIP
The Virginia State Corporation Commission will hear from the public about the Header Project this Tuesday. Tell them to reject VNG's self-serving project!
If the SCC approves this project, the VNG project would consist of 20+ miles of proposed pipelines, 3 compressor stations and will cost $20.75 million for customers. Compressor stations emit toxic air pollutants, endanger rivers and streams, and threaten the homes, schools and worship centers of many communities. The project would also supply dirty gas to the plants planned for Charles City County and Virginia ratepayers will be expected to foot the bill for three new compressor stations and over 2 dozen miles of new pipeline. While this project would benefit investors in the gas plant and fossil fuel industry, it doesn't benefit local customers and it jeopardizes the health, safety and climate future of our children while fence-line communities will be left with air pollution, water supply issues, and eminent domain battles.
Due to COVID-19, the safest way to participate is by video and phone. The SCC is allowing the public 5 minutes to speak by phone which could present a challenge for some folks.
This brief training will help you tell the SCC to reject the project using techniques that will help overcome the limitations of this unusual hearing. The training will be presented online. Please register and we will email the link to participate.
