Blow the Whistle on the DEQ

The DEQ hasn't been enforcing environmental laws to protect our water and endangered species from the Mountain Valley Pipeline. After several reports with documentation proving MVP's been diverting polluted water into a stream that's the habitat for the endangered Roanoke logperch, DEQ's inspectors closed the case saying the controls were in place. It's the controls that are diverting the water. Recently MVP's been drilling into wetlands where they don't have a permit and compromising the region's reservoir.

There are several ways to participate:

Action 1: Submit Letters to the Editor of your local newspaper demanding DEQ protect our water and endangered species from the MVP. Here's a letter, written by Mothers Out Front leader Beth Kreydatus, that was published recently (link to text of letter if you get a paywall).
Action 2: Organize a Whistle-blowing event to let everyone across Virginia know that the DEQ hasn't been doing their job! Here's the link to join the campaign. Link to where DEQ offices are located or just go to your nearest stream or even your front yard. Everyone can participate in blowing the whistle on the DEQ!
Action 3:  Promote the Whistleblowing campaign on social media by using this tool kit and sharing this Facebook event.
Action 4: Plan to attend the State Water Control Board meeting in Richmond on September 28 or help find people who can. The DEQ is holding water permit hearings in SWVA on that day and people are needed to read statements to the board on behalf of those who can't be in two places at the same time!
