Virginia's VA Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) hasn't been enforcing environmental laws on the Mountain Valley Pipeline project. The DEQ must protect our water and endangered species from further harm.
Join Mothers Out Front Roanoke to hear from Climate and Environmental Leader, Freeda Cathcart to learn why it's important to blow our whistles on the DEQ to protect our water.
For over two years, Freeda Cathcart has been documenting the continuing pollution from the MVP into the streams and habitat for the endangered Roanoke logperch. She's the Soil and Water Conservation District Director representing Roanoke City and has repeatedly asked to present evidence to the State Water Control Board (SWCB) that the DEQ hasn't been enforcing the law they are required to under the . So far the SWCB hasn't allowed her to present to them.
In this presentation, she will share her evidence from monitoring and provide attendees with an understanding about the harm MVP is causing to our waterways. She will also help participants make the case in public comments to the SWCB on why they should reject MVPs 401 permit.
