Hurricane Resilience - Yard Sale and Info Sharing

Climate change is bringing us bigger storms and longer storm-watch seasons. The time to gather supplies to deal with potential multi-day power outages, as well as to be ready in case the Governor calls for evacuation is now.

But what about those of us who do not find any supplemental cash after paying monthly bills? What if we don't have a car or we have physical mobility issues when the call comes to evacuate or take shelter? Hurricane resiliency is a justice issue.

Join our efforts to increase community hurricane readiness on June 12 (rain date June 19). We hope to support providing hurricane kits to assist low-wealth neighbors to prepare for the inevitable storm(s) and a solar battery for Wesley Union AME Zion Church in Huntersville so that they may store solar energy and become a sustainable shelter for the community.

So, what we need:
-yard sale volunteers
-donated sale items
-shoppers!
